Leela Movie Review
A Ranjith film again “Leela” spreads the fragrance of a realistic malayalam movie, something un paralleled especially with the Characterization . Leela and mahout “Kuttiappan” are the theme ribs and the film was based on the small story published in the Mathrubhumi weekly years back. Parvathi Nambiar plays as Leela, a sex worker in this movie and Biju Menon as the mahout with instincts certain different and of course, he is psychic. Ranjith has very tactfully used Biju Menon to perform the character and “Leela” the movie reveals the story friendly with post modernism and it has everything that you would prefer from a film something different in every aspect.
Leela, the movie never tries to hug cinematic formulas or gimmicks, but very cleverly strived to keep a distant track from main stream cinema. Parvi Nambiar is a true promise and she also denies the common behaviorism of our chocolate heroines, her silent expressions and agony made Leela , in to the new heights of soul mating the character of a sex worker. Perhaps you may feel Leela as a confused movie, but it infuses the dominance of the un familiar exposure of cinema which ensures enjoying intellectual visual happenings on the screen.
“Kuttiappan”, shaped by Biju Menon entertains you with stand apart talent and the film Leela is basically threads through the pain and mental worries of a woman. The linguistic reluctance and the identity crisis of the character played by Parvi Nambiar has to special mention, she played Leela well and does a better attempt. Literary work and cinema are entirely different and the viewers have to consider the difficulties while changing the format, but fortunately Leela has nothing to loss. Ranjit and Unni.R , the makers of Kuttiyappan deserves greets and un doubted Leela would travel through criticism.
Leela is a sturdy mind attempt and the film is not a common movie, really Leela holds a position get aloof from majority films. Other supporting actors in this film are Vijaya Raghavan as Pillechcan and Indrans as pimp Dassappan and Jagadeesh as Thankappan. Leela malayalam movie is very different, but it targets the whole audience.
